Packaging sustainability: Elgon’s choice
The sustainability of packaging and its compatibility with the objectives of environmental protection and social responsibility is a subject that touches us a lot. For this reason, Elgon Green has decided that Imagea’s packaging should be recyclable, and has chosen to optimize the amount of material used to avoid waste and minimize environmental impact. The constant search for alternatives has allowed us to reconcile this desire with an impact packaging, functional and with an excellent quality profile.
Polyethylene also called PE is a Bio Based material obtained from an easily renewable raw material, sugar cane. The advantage of using this type of plastic is that it does not use oil and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions in the environment. All this is achieved without losing the performance of PE, in fact these materials have the same mechanical and physical characteristics of the classic PE. BIO-BASED PE has been used in the tubes of IMAGEA PHYTOGOMMAGE and IMAGEA ESSENTIAL CONDITIONER. Where present, even the labels of the products are obtained with PE derived from sugar cane, the resin used has in fact the Bonsucro certification.
Bonsucro certification has the precise objective of reducing the social and environmental impact of sugar cane production, establishing international standards to certify its sustainable production. But the numbers are still low: just over 3 percent of all world production is certified (about 4 million tons), a sign that the road is still uphill. For this reason Elgon Green is very proud and proud of its corporate green choice.
