Sustainable shopping for a green lifestyle!
Assuming a sustainable lifestyle is always easier, it takes little to be
“green”!
Everyone, more or less, aspires to a healthy lifestyle that respects nature and the environment around us.
A sustainable lifestyle passes through everyday choices, in recent years it is even easier to follow it! For those who live in the city have multiplied the alternative services to the use of the car, from the increase in public transport, through the bike and car sharing.
Fashion has also perceived the attention of its consumers towards the environment: many are the brands that have chosen to follow this path, adopting policies of corporate social responsibility, and choosing quality natural raw materials, that do not exploit intensive farming and the work of people.
Buying solidarity products means using a form of trade that guarantees companies a fair and predetermined price, also ensuring the protection of the territory.
Elgon Green has chosen to follow this trend, especially for the assets derived from developing countries such as Africa, Laos and the Andes. Three assets from sustainable trade have been included in the Imagea line:
Purple rice (Oryza Sativa): it is a type of rice made purple by the presence of anthocyanins, natural water-soluble pigment, which plays an antioxidant function and protects the plant from ultraviolet rays. It is grown in Laos. The purple rice extract used in Imagea products is the result of a project to safeguard biodiversity. Purple rice cooperatives are trying to enhance this variety by developing sustainable agriculture and supporting local communities.
Kalahari Melon (Citrullus Lanatus): the oil derived from the seeds of Kalahari Melon has moisturizing, anti-oxidizing and regenerating properties, as it is rich in essential fatty acids. Elgon Green buys this oil through phytotrade Africa, a non-profit association that deals with supporting the development of African countries, promoting increased sales and improving the management of the distribution chain.
Quinoa: for Imagea was chosen an extract of Quinoa grown in the Andes. The farmers involved in this project are improving the seeding and harvesting steps to ensure the best possible quality of the product and develop greater local autonomy.
