Our Imagea forest grows on the web
For our part, for example, we have entrusted Elgon Green - the green soul of our company - with the task of providing an adequate response that can be combined well with our philosophy of environmental sustainability. So we decided to plant a tree. Actually, a whole forest, in Kenya. Because we think that reforestation of rural areas can be one of the steps towards protecting the ecosystem, and therefore towards our well-being. An opportunity that we took thanks to Treedom, the web platform specialized in high ecological and social performance, which since 2010 has grown more than 370,000 trees in Africa, Latin America and Italy, allowing its partners to become co-authors of this small great gesture, to give plants and to follow their evolution online. For this project, more than 21,000 farmers were involved, who daily plant and care for the trees, benefiting from all the benefits that they derive, including fruits. As they grow, plants absorb CO and produce oxygen, retain the soil with their roots, help increase biodiversity and make the places where they are planted more beautiful. A simple action that, therefore, leads to a general improvement of the socio-economic conditions of the chosen territory, linked to the great cause of the environment soustainability.
Tree after tree, we managed to involve colleagues, customers, friends and acquaintances. Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea of receiving a plant as a gift to be 'adopted'. And, meanwhile, our Imagea forest has expanded, coming to count - to date - 350 trees. A result that in Kenya translates into about 198,000 kg of CO2 captured: a quantity that would fill 1,034 trucks! A success that makes us proud of our "green thumb" and that motivates us to continue along this road. Indeed, this forest.
