It is estimated that 80% of plastic waste can pollute the oceans, putting marine fauna and flora at risk. The term "Ocean Bound Plastic" refers to plastic that is at risk of ending up in the ocean. This plastic comes mainly from abandoned waste within 50 km from the shores, where waste management is ineffective or non-existent. The OBP certification program is committed to removing plastic from the environment, ensuring that it is recycled and effectively disposed of before it reaches the ocean.
Elgon stands out as the first brand in Europe to use recycled PP from OBP certified waste. This cutting-edge material helps to reduce the amount of plastic that could pollute the oceans, thus supporting the fight against marine pollution 💪. In addition to the labels, the bottles are made of 100% recycled plastic, while the jars are made of R-PET (recycled plastic) and caps with R-PP (recycled polypropylene). This conscious choice contributes to the reduction of waste and the recycling of plastic materials.
